9. To those who from the period of their birth have not been covetous of earthly riches; but have regarded themselves as a breath passing away. Such has been their conduct; and much has the Lord tried them; and their spirits have been found pure, that they might bless his name.

and who, since they existed, did not long for terrestrial food, but considered themselves a breath that passes away, and lived accordingly, and were often tried by God, and their spirits were found in cleanness to praise his name.

Who, since they came into being, longed not after earthly food, but regarded everything as a passing breath, and lived accordingly, and the Lord tried them much, and their spirits were found pure so that they should bless His name.

Dem som allt ifrån sin födelse icke haft begär till jordiska rikedomar, utan ansett sig såsom en förbifarande andedrägt. Sådant har deras uppförande varit, och mycket har Herren ransakat dem, och deras andar hafva befunnits rena, på det de måtte välsigna Hans namn.

och dem som i alla sina lifsdagar icke åstundade jordisk föda, utan ansågo sig själfva som en förgänglig fläkt och lefde därefter och vordo på mångfaldigt sätt pröfvade af Herren, men hvilkas andar befunnos rena för att prisa hans namn.
